The Filling Inlet
The top inlet connects the bag to the filling system. Its diameter, length and closure should be selected according to the filling nozzle and material.
Key points include:
Inlet size: Match the filling nozzle and required filling rate.
Inlet length: Position the connection and help limit material escaping during filling.
Closure: Select a tie, flap or other closure according to containment needs.
Liner connection: Align the liner inlet with the outer spout to reduce folds, blockage and leakage risks.
Fine powders require closer attention to dust control and liner positioning. Coarser granules may place greater emphasis on filling speed and unrestricted flow.
The Discharge Outlet

Match the Bag to the Material
Different materials behave differently inside an FIBC.
Free-flowing granules: A standard outlet may be suitable if it matches the downstream equipment.
Fine powders: Review liner fit, outlet dimensions and the intended discharge method. A suitable baffle or liner may support more consistent flow.
Hygroscopic materials: Consider the outer bag, barrier liner and closure as one system. Confirm the liner outlet and sealing method in advance.
Difficult-to-flow materials: Review the design with the filling and discharge equipment supplier to reduce bridging and residue in the corners.
Packaging should work as part of the complete material-handling system.
Design the Liner and Outer Bag Together
An inner liner is not an independent accessory. Its inlet and outlet must correspond with the outer FIBC construction.
A well-matched design can help keep the liner in position, reduce folds, improve equipment connections and limit product trapped between the liner and outer bag. For formed or barrier liners, confirm the bag dimensions and outlet position before production.
